Families tell us that what they value most about working with Ripple Effect is becoming teachers and donors themselves, sharing their resources and skills with neighbours.

As they learn more, grow more and sell more, a ripple effect of positive change quickly spreads – reaching far beyond the farm.

For every family we work with, we know that another three families benefit, because people share what they have learned. Families who are successful are encouraged to pass on seeds, tools and livestock to other community members who need support, becoming donors themselves.

Farmers train farmers

At Ripple Effect we know that farmers learn best from other farmers, so we work through local staff who provide transformative training and support to community self-help groups.

The members of these groups help each other and exchange experiences to create resilient progress.

Nominated farmers in each self-help group receive extra training to become ‘peer farmer trainers’. They are a valuable community resource, who act as a touchpoint and ensure that change lasts long after formal project intervention ends.
